Resumen:
Objective. To determine the adverse effects of the subdermal implant in
fertile-aged women at the Regional Hospital Hermilio Valdizán Medrano from
January to August 2023. Methodology. An observational, analytical, cross-
sectional, and retrospective study was conducted with a sample of 126 fertile-
aged women attended at the hospital, where data collection was carried out
through the documentary analysis of clinical records. Results. The
documentary analysis revealed that 87.37% (83) of the women were between
18 and 35 years old, with a majority (57.89%, 55) having secondary education
and originating from urban areas (50.53%, 48). 64.21% (61) were engaged in
household chores (housewives), and 61.05% (58) were cohabiting patients.
Regarding gynecological-obstetric factors, 51.58% (49) were primigravida and
46.32% (44) primiparous. Regarding implant removal, 51.58% (49) used it for
less than 6 months, and 92.63% (88) did not require removal. Regarding
adverse effects, 100% (95) presented menstrual disorders, with amenorrhea
being the most common (53.68%, 51). Additionally, 25.26% (24) experienced
headache, 6.32% (6) acne, 93.68% (89) weight gain, and 18.95% (18) breast
tension. 100.00% (95) did not manifest local infection. Conclusion. The
subdermal implant carries adverse effects such as menstrual disorders,
headache, acne, weight gain, and breast tension.
